Back Pain Care in Wheaton and Naperville

Back pain is the reason most of our patients first walk in. We start by finding out what is driving it, then explain what we found in plain language before any care begins.

What brings people in

  • Aching or stiffness in the lower back that will not settle
  • Sharp pain when you bend, lift or get out of a chair
  • Pain that came back after surgery or an earlier injury
  • Tightness between the shoulder blades from desk work

When it is urgent. Go to an emergency room if back pain comes with loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness in the groin, new leg weakness, fever, or follows a serious fall or accident.

How we approach it

  1. 1

    A proper first look

A history, posture and movement check, and orthopedic and neurological tests. X-rays are taken only if the exam suggests they are needed.

  2. 2

    Hands-on care

Chiropractic adjustments matched to your comfort level, with roller-table traction and electrical muscle stimulation as part of a regular visit.

  3. 3

    Spinal decompression

Available at our Naperville office for disc-related pain when the exam shows it is appropriate.

  4. 4

    Keeping it from coming back

Simple stretches and strengthening you can do at home, and advice on sitting, lifting and sleeping.

Care is provided by Dr. Adam Tilson, D.C., and Dr. Michael Rager, D.C., chiropractic physicians. Results vary from person to person.

Common questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book a new patient visit directly at either office.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what the exam shows. After your first visit we tell you what we recommend, how long it is likely to take and what it will cost, and you decide.

Will you take X-rays?

Only when the exam points to a reason. Many patients do not need them.
