Foot and Ankle Pain Care in Wheaton and Naperville

Your feet carry everything above them. Heel pain, a sore arch or an ankle that keeps rolling often changes how you walk, and the knee, hip and lower back feel it next.

What brings people in

  • Heel or arch pain with your first steps in the morning
  • An ankle sprain that never fully settled
  • Pain in the ball of the foot when walking
  • An ankle that feels unstable on uneven ground

When it is urgent. See a medical provider promptly if you cannot bear weight after an injury, or for a foot that is hot, red and swollen, or a sore that is not healing.

How we approach it

  1. 1

    Look at how you walk

Foot and ankle joint tests, a check of your gait, and a look at the knee, hip and lower back that share the load.

  2. 2

    Hands-on care

Joint mobilization for the foot and ankle, muscle work for the calf and arch, and laser therapy at our Wheaton office when appropriate.

  3. 3

    Steady the ankle

Balance and strengthening exercises, and advice on footwear.

Care is provided by Dr. Adam Tilson, D.C., and Dr. Michael Rager, D.C., chiropractic physicians. Results vary from person to person.

Common questions

My feet are numb or burning. Is that the same thing?

Numbness, tingling or burning in both feet is more often peripheral neuropathy than a joint problem. We evaluate that separately, and our neuropathy page explains how.

Do you treat plantar fasciitis?

We evaluate heel and arch pain and care for the joints and muscles involved. If the exam points to something that needs a podiatrist, we refer you.
