What happens at a neuropathy evaluation

90 minutes, one-on-one with the doctor. The testing is non-invasive.

  1. 1

    Conversation

When your symptoms started, how they have changed, your medical history and medications, and what you most want to be able to do again.

  2. 2

    Nerve testing

Sensation testing across both feet and hands, plus reflexes, strength and balance.

  3. 3

    Circulation check

A non-invasive thermal scan of circulation in the feet, since nerves depend on blood flow.

  4. 4

    Your results

The doctor walks you through what was found, answers your questions, and tells you whether the program is appropriate. You leave with it in writing.

What it costs

The evaluation is $79. X-rays, if the doctor recommends them, are additional. Fees may be adjusted due to complications or unforeseen circumstances.

It is not covered by Medicare or most insurance. If you decide not to continue after the evaluation, there is nothing further to pay.
